Having not written in well over 2 years, I can safely say, writers block does exist, and if this was my sole source of income, I can confidently say I would be homeless and starving. It was always my desire that in the event that I make a comeback, it would be with a topic that was dear to me; something from my heart. I recently had a chance to proof read a book on Bemba marriages, principles and practices… suffice to say, the best book I have read after the Bible! This book will be published and it’s a must have for anyone trying to get back to understanding what love really means, what made our parents last so long together when they probably had more reasons not to be.
It's that time of the year again! Merry X Mas to you and yours from my family to yours. We are doing great and it is our hope that you too are doing great. Many people have told me this Christmas does not feel like Christmas; and what I tell them is forget how it feels or how you feel because its not your birthday.
...how the man has (according to me) lost his place and pride.
While paging through a local women’s magazine recently, I felt nothing less than GOBSMACKED. There it was! An article that was really good but a little too late. It spoke to me, actually- it spoke about me, WAIT ....I don’t think I’m putting this right, this article took a whole chapter out of my book, as it is. WORD-BY-WORD.
In whatever we decide to embark on in life, most ofus get bothered about whether the decision we have made is the right decision .Making a mistake is the greatest Fear of Man and thus we have people who do things like the way a Chameleon walks - always doing things slowly while observing everything around and making sure that what they are doing is Stable (Does that sound like YOU?)
I consider myself a rather clever young man to say the least. I mean I have done the schooling thing to a respectable extent at least completing high school. I do my bit of reading a couple of books every now and then, watch the news with interest and hold certain opinions on local and world politics. Basically I see myself as a product of the modern/urban day Africa.
My friend Trevor and his wife often laugh at me because I tend to end up becoming acquaintances with the boyfriends of girls I've liked. It has never been intentional and it is a really weird thing. In one particular case I've even become better acquainted (actually, we're friends now) with one guy than I am with his ex-girlfriend who introduced me to him.
Looking at the recent events surrounding the president of Zambia, which is my country of birth and home, I feel obliged this week to ask all of you to pray for his healing and begin to praise God that it is done by faith.
It is a terrible thing for people to say you are dead when you are still alive.
In Zambia Today, only less than 500,000 People are in formal employment out of the millions who are eligible but are not due to factors too numerous to mention. But out of the response that was obtained from a brief survey that was carried out in the quest to gather information for this article, it was interesting to find out that the Majority of those questioned said that there are very few Opportunities on the Job market in Zambia at present and thus they have become part of the informal sector.
HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus and it is the virus that causes AIDS. It’s also a member of a group of viruses called retroviruses. HIV infects human cells and uses the energy and nutrients provided by those cells to grow and reproduce. AIDS stands for Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome. It is a disease in which the body’s immune system breaks down and is unable to fight off infections, known as “opportunistic infections,” and other illnesses that take advantage of a weakened immune system. When a person is infected with HIV, the virus enters the body and lives and multiplies primarily in the white blood cells. These are immune cells that normally protect us from disease. The hallmark of HIV infection is the progressive loss of a specific type of immune cell called T-helper, or CD4, cells. As the virus grows, it damages or kills these and other cells, weakening the immune system and leaving the person vulnerable to various opportunistic infections and other illnesses ranging from pneumonia to cancer. A person can receive a clinical diagnosis of AIDS, as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), if he or she has tested positive for HIV and meets one or both of these conditions:
The presence of one or more AIDS-related infections or illnesses.
A CD4 count that has reached or fallen below 200 cells per cubic millimeter
of blood. Also called the T-cell count, the CD4 count ranges from 450 to 1200 in healthy individuals.
"There is not one marriage in today's culture that is not vulnerable. Why? Because we've allowed the culture to seep into our souls...
Clearly we can no longer pattern our marriages after the people around us -- if we ever could. Not only does the world not know how to divorce-proof its marriages, it is well on the way to making broken relationships the norm"
I recently came across a curious article in which the author “intelligently” dissected whether the Hip Hop music performed by Zambian rapper CRI$I$ was Zambian. This was written as a follow up to an earlier article by the same author titled “Crisis: the Poverty and Futility of Zambian Hip Hop ”. It made for interesting reading if nothing more. However, having known the artist in question personally since 1995 and being one that has listened to recordings by CRI$I$ and helped to promote his music both inside and outside Zambia, I was disturbed with the tone of the article – particular the closing line which said “He (CRI$I$) is a nobody”.
