How To Be Rich 101 - Part 3
Written by Caroline Chinungo
First, the bad news: you’re not going to reach all your financial goals. The good news: not all at once anyway. So, identify your goals clearly and decide which are most important. By focusing on one thing at a time, you have a better chance of reaching your goals. Focus first on the goals that are most important. Then narrow it down even further by putting equally important things on the backburner for a while. Decide which to start with. Seriously, you should not have more than 3 things on your list.

Placing Value Upon Humanity - Pt 2
Written by Nandila Gaskell
What are these things that add value to a person?

When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, when you receive power to positively influence, you are in fact demonstrating the qualities of value to humanity because you are allowing God to teach you in that very hour…when faced with your assignment…what you ought to say (Luke 12:12)

Tamara's Diary - March 2003
Written by Tamara
Dear Diary,

It is all Austella's fault - her and Kondo. I have told you about her Australian boyfriend right dear diary? Well, he has decided he wants to see more of Zed. Did you know that there are no recreational facilities in Zed? There is nothing to do on weekends. Nothing - nowhere to go at night either. Okay, though last month was Black History Month and the Americans had all these events to celebrate Martin Luther's birthday too. The alcohol was free (not that I was imbibing) and the conversation was interesting.

Soul of A Woman: My Valentines Sound Track
Written by Capricorn
When you are a kid, you see the life you want and it never crosses you mind that it's not going to turn out that way. It funny how life events can change the person you are. I guess in some ways we have all been there. Our scars, our failures, our wounds, the things that gives us excuses for why life isn't exactly as we'd hoped. We're afraid that in some ways, we are not good enough. I read somewhere that if we glimpse the edges that frame our experiences, we are a bit freer to expand our margins. A male friend once told me that, I looked mean and intimidating when he first me. I came across as being "too strong and independent" the type of girl who wouldn't a guy leeway. I guess I will never understand why "some" men interpret women's strength and independence as hostility. Strength and independence was all he saw but I have other qualities like a good heart, a kind soul, and lots of love to give.

How To Be Rich 101 (Part 2)
Written by Caroline Chinungo
Have you ever wondered what wealthy people have that others don’t? Before you tell me the obvious answer (lots of money!) think about it:

Identical twins, same background, upbringing, education, etc, are each given K1 million to do with as they like. At the end of one year, will they have the same amount of money? No! One may still have K1million; one may have a bigger wardrobe as a result or one could be worth more because he invested it. You get the point. (Refer to Luke 19:11-26 for the parable of the talents).

Placing Value Upon Humanity - Perception of value
Written by Nandila Gaskell
Value is a statement coming out of the depths of ones heart. It is a ‘map of a person’s view of the world’ (Covey 1990) and that shows a transparent heart. A completeness of self in the form of a gift. Yes, it is placing importance on our gifting. The word has meaning; it’s captivating and exemplifies the very nature of Christ. It is a revelational 21st Century word only existing in the form of purity.

Expressions
Written by Evans Munyemesha
The New Year came to Masaiti Boma, spreading like a bright stain across the peasant farms, soaking into the dawn and discoloring it.

The Boma was quiet. Very quiet. The air was mild, as if the last exhalation of the night still lay upon it.

The dog stood motionless on a formation that thrust up from an open slope. The wind gently ruffled his fur. He was lost in the woods. The woods had been unnaturally silent and devoid of the scent of prey. The most bitterdays of food shortage had more promise than this.

Soul of A Woman: New Years Resolutions
Written by Capricorn

New Year Resolutions?!? I don’t know how many I have made and kept in my lifetime. Its funny though how I always seem nostalgic on the last day of the year, yeah I know its my birthday and I feel I am getting older but I reflect on what has happen through out the year and I think I have survived another one. I miss being a little girl with absolutely no problems or care in the world. As I get older I worry about my health. They say that you never find yourself until you face the truth. I remember having lunch with my girls and when Mwansa dropping the bombshell that she had found a bean-sized lump in her left breast but because of the fear factor, she chose to ignore it. But as it became more painful, she decided to have it checked out. Her biopsy confirmed that it was cancer. She has been through a lot. I now find myself checking my breasts everyday single day. Any little pain I have I go to see my GP. Call it paranoia but it has really given me a wake up call.

How To Be Rich 101 (Part 1)
Written by Caroline Chinungo
"I love money. And I have a great deal of respect for it. Personally, I do not believe people that do not want to be wealthy, own a house or an expensive car."

Why is it that some people have money and others don't? Do you know people who have worked hard all their lives but have little to show for it? I have observed in my own and in the lives of friends and family how easy it is to live within the familiar limits of poverty - complaining about work and (the lack of) money and yet doing nothing about it. The sayings, 'chikulu bwacha' and "God willing," speak for themselves.

Smile You're In Real Life
Written by Kalenga "Daddy-O" Nkonge
Smile! It's a brand new day in a new month, a new year. But you can't tell by looking around, by the appearance of things because everything appears to be the same as yesterday, yester-year.

I'm hearing sounds
But are my ears deceiving me?
I hear raindrops
When the skies are clear blue
