Have you ever heard the term - "You are what you wear." Well, this term simply translates that what we wear defines who we are. Fashion and personality go hand in hand and are like two sides of the same coin. It is indeed possible to use a persons style in clothes to describe their  personality. Zambians and in this particular case, Zambian men, are very fashion conscious and pay a lot of attention in wanting to look vibrant and smart. Zambian people have embraced the modern times and thus dress like any other nationality anywhere in the world, if not finer.

A walk on the streets of Zambia would enable you to catch a glimpse of the different styles of dressing and fashion in this beautiful African  nation. There is diversity in the different styles and you will definitely find that men above 28 years of age are more into designer suits and formal clothes while those below 27 years of age are more trendy and mostly wear smart casual clothes such as Jeans and T-shirts. Men who prefer wearing traditional type of clothing generally wear "Chitenge", which is a traditional type of  hard textured material, which is used to create most of the Zambian traditional attires. These traditional attires are very creative in appearance and most of them are hand crafted (custom-made) meaning that you will not find two similar patterns. All the designs are unique and are diverse and they indeed portray the different personalities and characters abound in Zambia-'The Real Africa'.

Zambians are known all over the continent as being smart dressers. We are known as people who work on looking good no matter where we are going, whether going to the market or going to church. So how far have we actually gone in terms of having our own designers unleashing their own designs on the market, you may ask? Well a few designers have taken huge strides so as to place their designs in the reach of fashion conscious people in Zambia. Jane Osborne who is local music artiste has created a clothing label going by the name 'Jane "O" Designs.' Other designers who have come onto the fashion bandwagon are Clare Chona with 'Ubuntu Designs'  and so on and so forth, just to mention but a few. Zambian designers have proved to the world and to local people that they are indeed a force to reckon with.
