| Kilsta: Highlight on his Collaboration with Kilimanjaro |
| Written by Ntwale Siulanda | |
![]() Kilsta and Kilimanjaro Give us a brief background about yourself? Professionally I am a Computer Technician. I’ve worked before as an IT Specialist for two years. I’ve studied Information Technology (IT) and right now am studying IMIS. I attended Primary School at Jacaranda Primary School some time in the early 80’s and that’s when I as well got into the music business so to say. I started miming guys like LL Cool J, Boogie Down Productions and so on. From Jacaranda I went straight to Leopards Hill Secondary School and that’s when I seriously got interested in the music. Why did you branch off and venture into music instead of keeping your IT Job? Actually am doing both. Am working on my own as an IT Technician and I am also an artist. It’s out of interest that I got to venture into music. In Zambia it’s very hard for some one to succeed if you don’t have connections. Jobs nowadays are dependant on who you know. The only way to succeed in my opinion is to utilize your talent. If some one does that then he or she can make money because some one will be self employed. I know that out of music I can get to make money and set up my own IT Company. In your opinion. Does Zambian music have a future? Yes it definitely has a bright future. Very soon everything will change in the music industry. The music will improve by far. There will be a very wide margin as compared to the music in store right now. Believe me there is no business like show business. Music is considered to be a business on it’s own. Zambian music will reach very far. What kind of music do you do? Well I call it Ragga. I can do it in any language but the flow is the one which is Jamaican oriented. What do you Sing talk about in your music? Mostly it’s the stuff that I have gone through. There are also songs that offer solutions to the problems that are talked about in the other songs in the album. I’ve also talked about how rough it is to find a Job in Zambia. As I told you earlier, I am an IT Specialist but it’s hard to find a Job, but by doing other things such as music I can be able to generate funds and get into the IT industry. Why did you decide to do a collaboration album? Well though new in the game Kilimanjaro’s style is almost like mine and that’s why I got interested in doing an album with him. We are kind of like the Ying and the Yang. Right now the album is on promotion but we are expecting it to come out some time in August. On the album we have featured two up-coming musicians. These are Gesh on a song called “Jenala” and Captive on a song called “Vochita”. Trackback(0)
