Book Review: The Capitalist Nigger
Written by Mubita C. Nawa
Capitalist NiggerOn Monday, November 2nd 2005, a friend of mine by the name of Peter Nyirongo wrote to me. Peter had just finished reading the newsletter I wrote called, “How to Retire at Age 47”.

Peter was basically saying to me, “Mubita you must read the book “The Capitalist Nigger”. Then another friend recommended the book to me a few weeks after that. So two weeks ago I finally read it. Capitalist Nigger: The Road to Success: A Spider Web Doctrine is a 208 pages paper back book published by Timbuktu Publishers (October 17, 2000) ISBN: 0967846099.

Dr. Chika Onyeani is an acclaimed writer and author, whose no-holds barred controversial book, has sold more than 25,000 copies, and is in its third printing, soon to go into its fourth printing.

I believe that the book addresses a lot of issues with the black race, the African American race, and the entire African mentality. Dr. Chika is an acclaimed activist and has even been recognized by the NAACP in America and received the Black Heritage Award during a ceremony of the Black History Month on February 22, 2004, for his lifetime devotion to the cause of freedom, justice, equality and the personal dignity of humankind.

As a leadership coach and mentor, I have deduced over the years that the problems of Africa and the black man are not so much engraved on the pigment of our skin. They are deeper than that. Our problem the world over is a lack of seasoned leadership. Leadership is where everything falls.

Look at the war in Iraq, would you say that it was caused by a black person who is not a Capitalist Nigger? No way. The war in Iraq, which has now killed over 3000 American soldiers, between 44,000 and 49,000 Iraqis (source;www.iraqibodycount.net) and has cost over $380 billion US dollars. The war in Iraq was brought about by misjudgments in leadership priorities and a lack of transparency on the motives for the war.

Capitalist Nigger was sometimes informative to read and other times frustrating. It felt like watching a fight where people were being stubbed and were bleeding. Part of that was because the author exposes some truth about what is going on in Africa and in black people. Part of it was because I felt that Dr. Chika Onyeani was claiming that black people are so unproductive that they do not do a single thing.

I have met many Africans, as well as some Caucasians who are lazy and unproductive. But I have also met very successful Africans as well as African Americans.

In my view, The Capitalist Nigger is a wonderful book to read just to witness a wonderful fist fight. It is also a good book to read because it has a some truth in it.

However, it is written in such a way that it is negative and repetitive and not quiet depictive of the positive aspects of the black people nor of the unfairness that have been created by the other races that he pamphlets to.

I believe that Africa and the black man the world over are being saved from years of destruction. Our salvation will not come from the color of our skin, but the strength of our resolve and our leadership skills.
