Zambian Players Abroad: Boyd Mwila & Yobe on target

Over the weekend, Zambian sons abroad featured for their respective clubs.

In Sweden and Finland the leagues are in the second half of the campaign while it has just started in France.

In Germany and South Africa, there were cup games while in China the league is off due to the Olympics.Both the Germany Bundesliga and 2.liga start next weekend.

Germany

In Germany, the second round of the DFB Cup(Germany FA Cup) was played over the weekend and Zambian duo of Christopher Katongo and Andrew Sinkala made their competitive debuts for their new clubs.

                         


Both players came on as second half substitute in the 46th minutes.

Katongo’s Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld won 2-1 and advanced to the next round while Sinkala faced his old club, SC Paderborn 07.

The match involving Augsburg and Paderborn ended 1-1 and was settled on penalties with Augsburg triumphing via a 4-2 win. Sinkala did not take part in the shoot out.

Sweden


In the Swedish top flight, Allsvenskan, Edwin Phiri’s Ljunskile SK lost 4-2 to league leaders Kalmar FF.

Phiri did not feature. His club is second from bottom with 14 points from 18 matches. Phiri who will be turning his 25th birthday next month has played 11 league matches so far.

              


Still in Sweden, international midfielder Isaac Chansa is poised to start on the left wing for Henrik Larson led Helsingborgs tonight.

Helsingborg are third with 34 points, five points behind leaders Kalmar.

The ‘Zambian Gattuso’ has started 13 league matches and played 15 matches, missing just two. The ex-Power Dynamos has also scored three goals from midfield.


Forgotten son, Boyd Mwila’s (pictured above) Orgryte is top of the Swedish Superetan (second tier) with 36 points from 18 games.

The 22 year old helped Orgryte to a 2-1 win over Ängelholms FF with the former Chimparamba Great Eagles scoring the equalizer and his third goal of the season.

France

Felix Katongo’s Stade Rennais drew 4-4 with Olympique Marsaille in the openning match of the French Ligue 1. The Zambian ginger prince was one of the unused substitutes.

Jacob Mulenga played the full game for Berrichonne Chateauroux but failed to inspire them as they went down 1-0.

This was Chateauroux’s second ligue 2 defeat of the season.

Finland.


Chanda Mwaba and Zeddy Saileti started for RoPS while Chileshe Chibwe on as a second half substitute.

Unfortunately RoPS lost 2-0 to FC Honka. RoPS has now dropped to 9th on the 14 team log with 20 points.

Defender Stephen Kunda and Nchimunya Mweetwa missed through suspension and injury respectively.



 In the Finnish second tier, Dornwell Yobe (pictured above)  scored for AC Oulu and was subsitituted in the 86th minute in the 1-1 stalemate against VIFK. His young brother Dominic finished the whole match.

South Africa

Davies Nkausu accounted himself well as a full back helping Supersport United to a 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates in the MTN top eight cup.

Nkausu’s teammate Noah Chivuta did not play.

Despite pulling a string of saves, Kennedy Mweene conceded a goal in extra time as his club, Free State stars lost 1-0 to Collins Mbesuma’s Sundowns.

Mbesuma did not play with his coach Trott Moloto saying “Mbesuma is a class player. We will get him fit. I am not in a rush as I have plenty of options in attack at present so there is no hurry.”
