Contestants in the 10th Anniversary Special, Miss Zambia UK 2008 Beauty Pageant have started their training and grooming exercise in readiness for the final show which will be held at a combined event with the Zambian Independence Day Party on FRIDAY 24 OCTOBER 2004.
The 20 finalists will undergo a 10 week intensive professional grooming and beauty queen training which includes catwalk, deportment, wardrobe, skin care, personal hygiene, make-up, etiquette, confidence boosting, presentation skills, interview techniques, communication skills as well as all other aspects of the competition and beauty queen requirements. Each contestant’s progress and achievements during the training will be monitored and graded to make up 60% of the contestant’s overall individual result, and 40% will be collected during the final show. Part of the bootcamp will be held in Spain for further training, rehearsals and filming on location.
With the organisers, Perryfield Promotions holding almost 20 franchises for international pageants spread across the globe, all the 20 finalists will be trained to international level. And in keeping with the ongoing trends in international pageants, the 10th Anniversary Special, Miss Zambia UK 2008 will include the Talent segment, which will fast track successful contestants to the top ten from which the overall winner will be selected. Among the talents exhibited by the finalists are Marshall Arts, Author/writer, Singer/Songwirter, Dancer, Artists, Comedian and Poet.
The combined 10th Anniversary Special Miss Zambia UK 2008 & Independence Day Party is billed to be the biggest, most glamorous and spectacular Zambian event of 2008. Sponsors have pledged as the first prize a ‘helping hand’ onto the property ladder for the winner. Other prizes pledged by sponsors include a car, holiday at a villa in Spain, Holiday at a safari park in Zambia, return trip to Lusaka, Paris, New York, etc. Each contestant gets the opportunity to represent Zambia at an international pageant abroad.
All the contestants get signed to INTSTYLES Model & Artist Management, a division of Perryfield Promotions. They also get hair & beauty products, make-overs, photoshoots, modelling portfolios & model CompCards. In addition they get media exposure on television, newspapers, magazines, radio, websites, the internet and other media across the globe. The finalists also get to sample the celebrity lifestyle on the red carpet at champagne events and limousines rides. To crown it all there is a role in a movie on offer to the most suitable candidate!
Top Zambian artists will fly in from Zambia to grace the occasion. They will be supported by Zambian international artists based in the UK and Europe and other UK top artists. The combined Miss Zambia UK 2008 & Independence Day Party will be held at the TROXY, a luxurious venue offering full seating for all with theatre-style seating on the Upper Gallery and VIP Table Seating in the Grand Hall. Tickets are generously priced at £10 per person for the Upper Gallery.
The Miss Zambia UK Beauty Pageant is dedicated to the memory of all Zambian women who have died of HIV/AIDS. This year’s event will promote two Zambian children’s charities – The ALL STAR KIDS Charity and the Campaign for the 75,000 Street Children in Zambia.
