If there’s one statement I can confidently make about this cd - it’s JK’s most enjoyable release since his groundbreaking debut album. Rather than spending time speculating on the reasons behind this welcome change, the bottom line is it’s worth buying a copy – even if it means you invest in a pocket Bemba dictionary as well if you don’t understand the lingo.
JK - Balalolela Why do I enjoy it? The lyrics sound sincere, it’s musically rich and though at times I feel a bigger recording studio would have helped JK’s cause further I have no doubt that just as much as I am a happy customer, JK must be satisfied with this cd. He is the Executive Producer on this album. In a shift as far as production duties go, Joe Chibangu is absent and instead Sebastian Mutale who was a member of New Age (a group that JK was a part of) plays a pivotal role. TK lent his production skills too on 50:50 featuring Lilly T. My favourite tracks are the title track, Balalola, the opening track Capital and Imyaka – which is a song that rang in my mind for days long after I pushed the stop button on the cd player. Balelolela get’s both thumbs up from me. Well done! Note: Balalolela is released on the Fwebene / Supershine Investments Limited label.
