The exquisite search for the most beautiful, intelligent, ambitious and challenging secondary school student of the year 2001 has begun. The Miss Zambia High Schools beauty pageant this year is blowing up to become an item to look forward to on the Zambian social calendar.
The major objectives are to facilitate the selection and build up of a high school beauty that will be identified as a symbol of hope and goodwill as well as a source of inspiration to the entire high school fraternity in the country. The prestigious search is not aimed at choosing a beauty with a title that will just complement her for personal glory and benefit, but to identify a role model that will be an ambassador of secondary schools nationwide. Her major objective will be patriotic promotion of the girl child, education as the most powerful source, independence and gender equality to every woman in the world today. She will spearhead the issues of the underprivileged, those who crave for education but for various reasons, are unable to go to school. Participants will be picked from central province – where four girls have already been picked, Southern Province – where the regional pageant will take place on 1st September 2001, and one is scheduled for the Copperbelt in October .The final flashy gala will be held the National Museum in Lusaka on the 1st December 2001, World Aids Day. The pageant that was launched last year has boomed, bringing on board more sponsors and enlarging the prestige of the event and it’s role. One of the major partners to come on board is Clorin, a water purification agent distributed by Society for Family Health (SFH). BrokenHill will follow the progress of the girls through out the event, and will list them as well as their profiles as they appear. We will also be giving away four free tickets to anyone who accurately guesses the winner, along with other gift packs from the sponsors.
